Kyra says "MORE!"

Well, Kyra's vocabulary is getting bigger and bigger. She can say momma, dada, bubba (Owen), hi, that, more. She can also say 2 words together (but only "Hi Dada!" or "Hi Bubba!") she also tries to say "I love you" and "Thank you"...just baby babble mostly, but she copies the vowel sounds the same way every time we tell her to say it. She also will point at all the Christmas lights and the wreath on our front door and say "Ohhhh, Ohhh!!" So cute! She is getting so big so quickly, can't believe she will be 1 in just a month.

Kyra doesn't want to perform!

You know how hard it is to get kids to perform on cue? Well here is another example of just that.

Nothing like sneaking garbage

While uploading that last video, Kyra decided to tip over the garbage can and help herself to a bag of old raisins that I had just thrown away this afternoon. Thanks Mom for making this lovely choking hazard available for my consumption!

Kyra Kate is walking!

Here it is Mom!! That video of Kyra you so wanted to see. Not the best quality, but it will have to do.

Owen Lost His First Tooth!

Owen has been wanting to lose a tooth for quite a while now. So many of his friends at school and church have been losing teeth and at 7 years old he felt he was old enough to lose one. Well...a couple weeks ago he came home and told us a tooth was lose! He was thrilled!
So for the last couple weeks he has been playing with that tooth trying to make it more and more loose. We had a look in his mouth the other day and noticed that Owen is a shark. Yes, a shark. The new tooth coming in is not under the baby tooth but behind that tooth. Just how sharks have teeth that grow in rows! After having our friend Kaulana (who is a dentist) look at it, we decided that that baby tooth needed to be pulled to make room for the new tooth to move up.
After a few days of being scared to pull it, today was the day!! I tied some dental floss to the bathroom door, hooked the other end around his tooth and that little tooth came right out! I didn't even slam the door shut!
Now we have a cute little boy with a cute little gap! Oh, and tooth number two is loose now too!!

If you look closely, you can see that other tooth back there!

Kyra's Blessing Day

This weekend was Kyra's blessing at church. It was great to have so many friends and family there to support us and her. We love having so much family close by and we were grateful that some of my family could make it down as well.
It was a very windy day so we didn't take many pictures outside like we usually do. (I'm just glad it wasn't raining...or hailing, like it was the night before.) Here a couple pictures of our great day!

Emme...just because!

Now that Emme has hair I really want to do cute things with it. The problem is that she doesn't let me play with her hair all that often; I think she was bald for too long. When I do get the chance to do something she really seems to like it though!

Kyra Smiles!

Kyra has started smiling in the last week (Real smiles! Not the face muscles twitching, "I have gas" kind of smiles.) and I tried to get some of it on video. Here is a little clip to see what she has been up to! (You can also see Emme's arm over and over. I had to keep holding her back so I could see Kyra. She loves to be right in Kyra's face whenever she is awake.)
And yes, she still has red hair!

A fun video of Owen

This past fall Owen decided he wanted to try football. Our city has a flag football league that we signed Owen up for. He had some kids from church and school on his team and one of his friend's dad was one of the coaches. For the first few games, he played offensive and defensive line (kind of funny since he is not the biggest kid and they were some pretty BIG kids on his team this year.) but he wasn't happy. He decided to ask his coach if he could try another position. They moved him to safety, when on defense, and quarterback on offense. He had one practice with his team and then a game the following Saturday.

Below is a link to his first play as QB, he made a pass that was run in for a touchdown! ... Maybe one day, when he is a successful QB in the NFL, ESPN will show this! (We really aren't planning on him becoming a famous quarterback---just fun to joke about!)

Kyra Kate

Hmm...it's been a while and a lot has happened since I last posted but I will try and catch up in the next couple weeks. The biggest thing to happen to our little family is our new baby girl!
Kyra Kate Mahkorn was born on January 12th at 1:50pm. She weighed 7 pounds 9 ounces (biggest baby by almost half a pound!) and was 20.5 inches long. She looks so much like the other 2 kids, especially Emme, but with dark hair. Maybe we will have a red haired kid after all!!
I love that it looks like she is smiling!

Don't you just want to pick her up and cuddle her?!?!

Owen and Emme love her to pieces and we are so happy to have another little baby in our family.
